Carbon Reporting Project
Isabelle Brookes

This project aims to develop a comprehensive island-wide carbon emissions inventory that will help residents, organisations and businesses to understand the impact of their activities. It is hoped that the findings will help identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions, lower energy costs, support investment in low-carbon initiatives and inform future climate action across the Isles of Scilly.

What will be involved?

The project will build on existing carbon reporting to develop a more detailed and accurate baseline for the islands. While our Council already monitors and reports on emissions from its own operations as part of its net zero 2030 commitment, this project will extend the evidence base by enhancing the information available to the University of Exeter’s Centre for Energy and the Environment (CEE)* from an Isles of Scilly perspective and add value to current reporting.

The project will use the results to provide a user-friendly, easy-to-understand carbon inventory that reflects the unique characteristics of the islands.

*The Centre for Energy and the Environment are an interdisciplinary team who conduct applied research and consultancy into sustainable buildings, energy and environmental policy and the impacts of climate change on the built environment
