Our community advocates programme helps people identify research ideas, supports them with research design, data collection, and understanding of findings.​
It could be supporting an existing project, or an entirely new idea brought forward by you or from the community.

The Field Studies Council is an environmental education charity. They run a series of courses covering all aspects of the natural world for beginners, enthusiasts, volunteer recorders and professionals, including animals, plants, habitats and conservation.

Online datasets

Their ethos is to collect high quality coastal monitoring data, and make it freely available to anyone with an interest in the coast, so that it can be used multiple times.

Data includes: aerial photography, bathymetry, coastal asset information, habitat mapping, LiDAR, topographic beach profile surveys, wave and tidal measurements and weather data.

1 hour sessions

A series of webinars that delve into a range of natural history topics, with live discussion and tuition from an expert tutor.

All webinars will be hosted on Zoom, and they will be approximately one hour long, including time for questions from participants.

The South West Marine Ecosystems programme brings the marine community together to consider changes in our local seas.​

They host a series of themed webinars including seabirds, Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), Fish, Seals and Plastic Pollution, which can be viewed via their YouTube Channel.

The results of Butterfly Conservation's 2026 Big Butterfly Count have revealed it was a great summer for butterflies, but what comes next could be dire. 

Butterfly Conservation now fears that the real cost of this summer's extreme weather may not be felt until next year, when drought-stressed caterpillars should be emerging as adults.
